MAIL
Domino Access for Microsoft Outlook (DAMO) includes out of office and change password features, and the ability to import and export Internet certificates. Users can set Domino Preferences including mail file preferences, setting up free time and busy hours, autoprocessing, and customizing replication settings. Replication synchronizes the Outlook client with Domino so that the Outlook .PST file is identical to the mail database. For users who access their mail using both Notes and Outlook, users need only to make a change one time, and the changes appear in both places for Mail, Calendar, Tasks, and Contacts. Users can also work offline, using a local address book.
If more than one person shares a single workstation, they can share a DAMO installation, by using the multi-user installation option. In a multi-user installation, each individual user can have a private folder hierarchy as their data directory (for example, C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\DAMO_Data). This provides a certain level of privacy. However, for security users also need to assign a password to their local mail database (*.PST file), because with DAMO, all files are local on the workstation. (Typically, in both a standard Notes environment and a standard Outlook environment, this is not necessary because the mail database is on the server, and the server controls access.)
Note Microsoft Outlook 2000, Outlook XP, and Outlook 2003 each have a different method of assigning a password to the local data file. Users should refer to the on-line help for their release of Outlook.
Before installing Domino access for Microsoft Outlook, you must set up users for installation.
