Supported platforms and hardware and software requirements
Pre-Domino 7 releases cannot use Query Views, as well as some Designer features for DB2 Access Views. Any version of the Notes C-API program that can access the DB2 enabled Domino server can also access Notes databases stored in DB2.

DB2 key for access to Domino 7 with DB2

Limited Availability

Domino with DB2 is released with Limited Availability, as such, it is not available for general usage.

To enable Domino 7 with DB2, use the "DB2 key" that allows access to Domino 7 with DB2. For Microsoft Windows platforms, use NDB2KEY.DLL; for IBM AIX platforms, use libdb2key_r.a.

Add the DB2 key to the Domino Program directory. The default Domino Program directory on Microsoft Windows is C:\Program Files\Lotus\Domino; the default Domino Program directory on IBM AIX is /opt/lotus/ibm.

Supported platforms

Domino 7 and DB2 are supported on these platforms:

IBM AIXŽ 5.2 and 5.3

Note Shared mail is not supported for a DB2 server. The recommended method of installation is to create a new DB2-enabled Domino server and replicate to DB2. If an existing server is upgraded to a DB2-enabled Domino server, the shared mail linked mail files need be unlinked prior to the upgrade.

Software requirements

DB2 UDB Enterprise Server Edition version 8.2.2 (FixPak 9).
DB2(R) Run-Time Client is required for remote configurations
Caution Do not confuse the DB2 Run-Time Client with the DB2 Run Time Client Lite (RTCL). We do NOT support the DB2 Run Time Client Lite.
IBM DB2 Access for Lotus Domino 7.0
IBM Lotus Notes Client 7.0 is required to be able to open Query Views

Memory requirements for a DB2 enabled Domino server, Microsoft Windows or IBM AIX

Microsoft Windows platform

Computers require a minimum 1 GB RAM, 2GHz Processor.
On a local configuration, that is, the Domino server and the DB2 server are installed and running on the same Microsoft Windows computer, the computer should be dedicated to Domino and have no more than one DB2 instance and one DB2 database for the Domino server.
On a remote configuration, that is, the Domino server and the DB2 server are installed on and are running on separate Microsoft Windows computers, the DB2 server must have one DB2 instance and one DB2 database for the Domino server.

IBM AIX platform

The DB2 Server can be configured with multiple DB2 instances but can only have one DB2 instance and one DB2 database per Domino Server.
A minimum of 1GB memory per DB2 instance
The Input Output Completion Protocol (IOCP) must be installed on AIX systems on which the DB2 Access server is installed. If Domino has not been installed on the computer where the DB2 Access server is to be installed, you must manually verify that IOCP is installed and enabled prior to installing the DB2 Access server.

Other requirements

Transaction logging must be enabled to run the DB2 Domino server. When you enable transaction logging on the Server document, set the log file size to at least 192 MB.
UTF-8 is supported for Domino 7 and DB2. New databases are created as UTF-8 databases. No other database encoding is supported.

What's not supported in this release of Domino and DB2?

Domino 7 and DB2 does not support the use of the following:

IMAP4
ODS version 41
Domino's extended ACLs are not supported with DB2 enabled Notes databases.
SCOS (shared mail)
System databases are not supported as DB2 enabled Notes databases (NAMES.NSF, LOG.NSF, etc.)
