Notes application plug-in and policies
You can use the Domino policies feature to designate how instant messaging services, within the Notes application plug-in, are provided to your users. The Notes application plug-in lets Notes users work with Notes applications in the IBM Workplace Managed Client(TM) just as they would in the Notes 7 client.

The Basics tab of the desktop policies settings document contains a Notes application plug-In section. Use those settings to define whether IBM Workplace (TM) Collaboration Services or IBM Lotus Sametime will provide instant messaging services. When you use a policy to define how these services are provided, users cannot change them using the File - Preferences - User Preferences - Instant Messaging menu choices. Those menu choices are inactive when the policy settings are invoked.

Note The Notes application plug-in works only with the IBM Workplace Managed Client. You cannot use it with other Eclipse applications.

For more information about the Notes application plug-in and the desktop policy settings document, see the topic Creating a desktop policy settings document.
