Customizing a Welcome Page
Once you have created a Welcome Page, you can change the content and rearrange the layout of the page at any time.

To show or hide tips of the day or "New Item" buttons on the Basics pages

If you are using the Basics Welcome Page, which is the Notes default Welcome Page, or the Basics With Calendar Welcome Page, you have the option to display tips of the day, which are helpful hints for using Notes. You also have the option to create a new Mail memo, a new Calendar entry, a new personal address book Contact, a new To Do item, or a new Journal entry directly from the Basics Welcome Pages.

1. Open a Basics Welcome Page.

2. Click the top border of the Welcome Page that says "Click here for more Welcome Page options."

3. Do any of the following:

To set your Personal Journal on the Basics pages

Once you create a journal database, you can access your personal journal by clicking "Personal Journal" from a Basics Welcome Page.

1. Open a Basics Welcome Page.

2. Click the top border of the Welcome Page that says "Click here for more Welcome Page options."

3. Click "Set Journal database."

4. Do one of the following:

To edit a personal Welcome Page

1. Open a personal Welcome Page.

2. Click the top border of the Welcome Page that says "Click here for more Welcome Page options."

3. Click "Edit this page."

4. Click the down arrow on the right side of any field helper displayed on the Welcome Page, and then select the type of content you want to add from the list. There is a field helper in most areas on the Welcome Page that can be changed.

5. Once you have selected an item from the field helper list, click the image of that item to the left of the down arrow on the field helper to add the item to your Welcome Page.

6. Click Save on your Welcome Page to save your changes.

Tip For details on how to use the field helpers and change the content of your personal Welcome Page follow Steps 1-3 above, then click the question mark icon at the top of your personal Welcome Page.

To edit content in a frame permanently

1. Open a framed Welcome Page.

2. Click the top border of the Welcome Page that says "Click here for more Welcome Page options."

3. Click "Customize this page."

4. Select an item that you would like to customize in the "Welcome Page Customization" dialog box.

5. When it opens, use the Welcome Page wizard to change the content of your Welcome Page.

To edit content in a frame for the current session

When you change the contents of a frame temporarily, the contents change until you close Notes. The next time you open Notes, the original contents of the frame that you chose using the Welcome Page wizard reappear.

Note This option is not available from a Basics Welcome Page.

1. Open a framed Welcome Page.

2. Click the arrow on the right side of the frame that you want to change.

3. Click any of the following "switcher" options to change the content of that particular frame:

Everyday Tasks Everyday tasksProvides links to Mail, Calendar, Personal Address Book, Personal Journal, and To Do.
Inbox InboxDisplays your Mail Inbox, allowing you to read and write mail.
Trash TrashDisplays the contents of your Trash view.
Calendar CalendarDisplays your Calendar, allowing you to check your schedule and create meetings.
To Do To DoDisplays your To Do list, allowing you to check the items on your To Do list and create more To Do items.
Subscriptions SubscriptionsDisplays your subscriptions, allowing you to check your latest subscription notifications.
Web Page Web pageLets you display a Web page of your choice.
Database DatabaseLets you open any Notes database that you have access to and displays the view of your choice.
File Folder File folderLets you access and display any folder in your operating system.
Restore RestoreRestores the original content in the frame.

To change the current content of a frame back to the original content

1. Open a framed Welcome Page.

2. Click the arrow on the right side of the frame that you want to change.

3. Click Restore. The original contents of the frame appear.

To resize frames on a Welcome Page

Place your mouse pointer over the frame border until there is a double-sided arrow. Drag the frame border as necessary. Notes saves your frame size settings.

To refresh Welcome Page content

Do any of the following:


Note If you make changes in a database that is also displayed on a Welcome Page, you must refresh its frame on the Welcome Page to see those changes reflected on the Welcome Page.
