IBM Workplace Managed Client users: If your company uses IBM Workplace Collaboration Services for instant messaging, features may differ from the IBM Lotus Sametime instant messaging features described here. You can set a preference to save chat transcripts to your Mail database automatically, or to be prompted to save chat transcripts.

1. Choose File - Preferences - User Preferences.

2. Click Instant Messaging - Options.

3. Under Chat Transcripts, do one of the following:

• If you would prefer to use a command (Meeting - Save To Database) in the chat or meeting window whenever you want to save a transcript to Mail, keep the default "Do not save transcripts automatically."
• To be prompted about saving a transcript to Mail whenever you close a chat or meeting window, select "Prompt to save transcripts."
• To automatically save a transcript to Mail whenever you close a chat or meeting window, select "Always save transcripts."
Note Transcripts are saved to the Chat Transcripts view in your Mail database. Saved transcripts always include timestamps -- deselecting the "Add timestamp to message" preference affects only messages and invitations that you receive.
