WORKING WITH DOCUMENTS
Documents are built from forms that the database designer created. Forms create the layout and functionality for a document. Forms may contain fields, which can be used to collect or display information. Forms can also contain graphics, actions, formulas, and so on. For example, when you create a new mail memo, you are creating a document that is using a new mail memo form that determines what the new mail memo document looks like and does. The new mail memo form contains a To field, a Cc field, a Bcc field, a subject field, and a body field. A new mail memo can be sent to others. Database designers can create unique forms that best fit the database they are designing. As Notes client users, we simply use the documents that can be created from the databases we work in.
When you are in a database, there are many things you can do with a document, whether you see the document in a view or are reading a document. For example, you can preview documents, delete documents, display hidden characters in documents, and lock documents.
